Brenda, ED Assistant Nurse Manager
Brenda has found that Providence Swedish is a wonderful place to be because she has good support from her leadership and the right opportunities for growth. “I know that in the next few years, I’ll reach a crossroads in my career—whether to pursue becoming a nurse practitioner or move into leadership—and I feel confident that Providence Swedish will support me no matter which path I choose,” she says.
Providence Centralia Hospital a great place to be. I have a son who’s going to nursing school. I’ve encouraged him to apply here once he’s done.
What do you appreciate most about working at Providence Swedish?
One of the things I appreciate most is the growth and opportunities they’ve provided me. I started in the Med Surg Unit, moved to the Progressive Care Unit, worked on the float pool, and now I’m in the ER. I love that I’ve been able to grow and explore different areas of nursing.
What makes Providence Centralia Hospital unique?
Providence Centralia Hospital is a smaller, community-based hospital, and that’s one of the things I value most. Because we don’t have specialized teams like IV therapy or wound care, we as nurses have the opportunity to develop and strengthen a wide range of skills. I love being able to expand my expertise, whether it’s starting IVs, managing wound care, or helping newer nurses develop their skills. It’s a great environment for growth and learning.
How does Providence Swedish support your professional development?
Providence Swedish offers tuition reimbursement. Whether it’s a bachelor’s or master’s degree, they provide financial support to ease the burden of going back to school. I also feel supported by our management team. I know I can go to my manager anytime to discuss concerns or goals, and they’ll help me find the right pathways to achieve that growth.
